From the Ogna River, you can set out on a calm and relaxing canoe trip with family and friends. Here, you can paddle on calm, flat water, stop along the way, enjoy a meal at the designated rest areas, and continue your journey. The river is peaceful and brings you close to nature. Ogna is perfect for both beginners and more experienced paddlers, with no rapids or waterfalls—making it safe and easy to navigate.

Overnight canoe trip with hammock

Plan an overnight trip out of the ordinary and sleep in a hammock along the banks of the Ogna after a day of paddling.

Halfway along the route between Hyllbrua (departure) and Støa (arrival) lies the Storbekken rest area, which offers a fire pit, benches, toilets, and excellent spots for hanging hammocks. When driving into the valley, it is possible to stop here in advance to drop off equipment, so you don’t need to bring everything in the canoe.

The canoe trip from Hyllbrua to Støa in Ogndal was named one of the top five canoe trips in Norway by Nationen in 2020. Each canoe accommodates up to three people (or two adults and two children).
Rental includes paddles and life jackets.

It is recommended to have two cars for this trip, as the distance is just under 10 kilometres along a paved road.

If you only have one car, bicycles can be rented to return to Hyllbrua, or you can paddle a round trip to Storbekken instead. Canoes are rented per day, and you can collect your canoe at Hyllbrua at a time that suits you.
